Paul in one of his last talk to the elders at Ephesus says a statement that captivated my heart. He said, “I Consider my life worth nothing.” I was always amazed at the way Paul carried himself through trials, sufferings and the joyful moments. In his suffering, he never questioned the existence or the work of God because he knew life in Christ is not about the benefits but being dead to the world and alive in Christ.
When I think about it, there is a Message that is lost in our Christian world today. An overemphasis on blessing and prosperity and wealth leads to false hope and it pushes people to disappointment when it is not fulfilled.
And, I wonder how is that Paul never went into disappointment in spite of all suffering. What I see is this, The Message that was spoken in early Christianity is now changed to something else. Somewhere along the lines the message has been distorted and lost.
It’s time to remind ourselves of that true message that, life in Christ is not about us, not about the blessing or the promises but it is we being dead and Christ living in us.
I encourage that you listen to this sermon titled, “The Lost Message of Christianity” as I share from Acts 20:24 two main scriptural truth that standards true throughout the ages.
Acts 20:24 (NIV) However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
